Before buying a cushion for the space behind your mattress, reach for a tape measure. Bed size alone does not tell you whether a gap pillow will fit.
Measure the gap you actually have
With the mattress in its usual position, measure the horizontal distance between its head end and the headboard. Check both corners and the middle: a sloping headboard or a mattress that sits unevenly can make the gap vary.
Next, measure the length of the area you want to cover. A pillow does not necessarily span your entire bed just because it is described as a headboard cushion. Check its actual length against your measurement.
Compare the cross-section, too
A triangular cushion can have a different height and depth. Ask which number on the supplier’s diagram describes each axis. Our proposed Bed Gap Pillow is listed as 137 × 15 × 25 cm. That listing alone does not prove that a 15 cm gap, for example, will be filled securely in every setup.
Check what can move
Notice whether your mattress slides, whether the bed is adjustable and whether the headboard flexes. Recheck the measurement in the position you will use. Do not rely on a decorative cushion to secure a mattress or fix a loose frame.
A quick pre-purchase checklist
- Gap depth at the two corners and the center.
- Length you want to cover.
- Cushion height and depth, confirmed with a dimension diagram.
- Cover care, color and return conditions.
A gap cushion is a convenience product for a compatible adult bed setup. It is not a bed rail, an entrapment-prevention product or a solution for an infant sleep space. There is no clinical claim to prove here: the important question is whether the physical fit works.
